FUNERAL SERVICE FOR NON-MEMBERS # 09:002

POLICY:

To establish a fair and consistent Policy for memorial or funeral service requests from a non-member’s family.

SCOPE:

This Policy shall apply to all service requests for Non-Members.


PROCEDURE:

  • It shall be the responsibility of the Worship Team to have a greeter in the narthex prior to the service.
  • The Pastor and the Music Director of Chapel shall lead the service. If one is not available, they shall find a replacement.
  • In the Sanctuary only rituals prepared by a Pastor, Minister of Word and Sacrament at Chapel By The Sea shall be permitted.
  • Any remarks during the service by a family member or friend shall be given to the Pastor for prior approval.
  • Bulletins for the service shall be a Staff responsibility.
  • Rituals performed on Chapel property may be permitted but do not necessarily reflect the views of the Chapel’s reformed tradition, i.e. military, civic, or fraternal organizations.
  • The Pastor and Music Director shall advise the family of the recommended fees as follows:
  • Recommended contributions for use of the sanctuary is $100, to the Pastor $150 to the Music Director $150.
  • For a reception in Silver Hall to follow a service, the Pastor shall contact the contact the Chairperson of the Memorial Committee. Costs for food and beverages are the responsibility of the deceased’s family.
  • Cost for use of Silver Hall for the reception shall be $100 and $100 for the Maintenance Director.
  • A plaque for the monument on the Chapel lawn may be added for a person whose service was conducted by a Pastor of Chapel By The Sea Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and whose ashes are spread at sea. Costs of the plaque and the spreading shall be the responsibility of the family or friends.
The Church Administrator shall advise the family of the recommended fees as follows:
Sanctuary use: $100
Pastor: $150
Music Director: $150
Silver Hall: $100
Maintenance Director: $100

RESPONSIBILITY:

The responsibility for Non-Member services shall rest with the Pastor and the Music Director, with coordination by the Church Administrator .
