PURPOSE:
To establish eligibility and procedure for participation at the Hurricane Shelter, First Presbyterian Church of Lehigh .
SCOPE:
This Policy defines the procedures and requirements related to hurricane shelter arrangements.
PROCEDURE:
• The Parish Health Committee shall be in contact with the Session of First Presbyterian Church of Lehigh annually (March) to request use of their facilities during hurricane season.
• With the approval of the Session of First Presbyterian Church of Leigh, Members, Affiliates, and participating friends of the Chapel may sign up to be included on the shelter list which must be completed no later than July 1. A letter indicating the location by map and written directions, instructions for what to bring and when to go and a reminder that the Leigh Church is not a County Approved Shelter will be sent to each participant by July 7.
• Each individual is responsible for his or her own safety. Individuals may choose to go to the shelter at any time during an impending storm watch. This is not a systematic, organized evacuation plan of the Chapel.
• Household pets are welcome by the Lehigh church, but must be kept supervised in such a way as to protect the comfort of all seeking shelter.
• The Parish Health committee at the close of the hurricane season shall send a letter of thanks to the Lehigh church.
Responsibility:
The Parish Health Committee shall be responsible for maintaining the relationship with the Lehigh Church and for informing Chapel Congregation of the availability of this program.
