To provide a comprehensive benefits program through the Presbyterian Church (USA) Board of Pensions to all eligible employees in an equitable and consistent manner, at no cost to the employee. Regular Part Time, Temporary or Contract employees nor After School Staff are not eligible for benefits set forth by this policy.
SCOPE:
The benefits program consists of Pension, Death and Disability, Medical and Medicare Supplement. Optional Death, Dental, Retirement Savings, and Long Term Care Plans are available and are managed and administered by the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Eligible regular full time employees include installed pastors and employees working at least 30 hours per week, or who were eligible under previous policies and were enrolled at that time under those previous policies.

If a church elects to cover its regular full time employees, all eligible regular full time employees within the same classification must be enrolled. If one regular full time employee is withdrawn from the Benefits Plan, but continues service at the Church, all regular full time employees in that classification must be withdrawn. PROCEDURE:
- All regular full time employees working at least 30 hours shall be eligible for the primary benefits package, at no cost to the regular full time employee.
- Optional benefits Death, Retirement Savings and Long Term Care Plans shall be available, at the expense of the regular full time employee, unless payment by the church has been approved by the Pastor, the Communication and Resources Committee and the Personnel Committee. If the costs for optional benefits are the regular full time employee’s responsibility it shall be withheld from the regular full time employee’s paycheck. As of January 1, 2009, Optional Dental will be provided to all regular full time employees in the benefits program with the cost being paid by the church.
- The church provides partial participation for regular full time employees (Medical, Death and Disability coverage only) for the first three (3) years of eligible service. After the third year of partial coverage, the regular full time employee must be enrolled in full participation.
- The Church Administrator shall be the contact person with the Board of Pensions to obtain Benefits forms and information. He/she shall obtain all necessary forms and information to enroll eligible regular full time employees. The required forms shall be signed by the proper persons and forwarded to the Church Administrator to be reviewed for completeness and forwarded to the Board of Pensions. Copies of the signed forms shall be retained in the regular full time employee’s personnel file.
- Payroll deduction for the costs of optional benefits may be offered to all eligible regular full time employees.
- The Church Administrator shall complete and forward to the Board of Pensions the necessary forms and signature for changes in salary or hourly rate, job classification, and termination.
RESPONSIBILITY:
The Pastor, and Church Administrator shall ensure that all eligible regular full time employees are aware of the Benefits Plans, both Chapel paid and optional, that required forms are available, completed and forwarded to the Board of Pensions in a timely manner.
