To establish a reasonable and humane bereavement Leave Policy for all employees of Chapel By The Sea.

This Policy shall apply to all Pastoral, Program and Support employees of Chapel By The Sea.

PROCEDURE:
· Three (3) days of paid bereavement leave for a Pastoral, Program or Support regular full time employee shall be granted upon the death of a spouse, natural or adopted son or daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parents, parents-in-law, grandparents or sibling.
· A request for bereavement leave for a Program or Support regular full or part time employee shall be made to the Pastor and shall be of reasonable length depending on the geographic location and the familial responsibilities of the employee. A Pastoral employee shall make any request for bereavement leave to the Chairperson of the Personnel Committee
· Any request for additional bereavement leave with or without pay for the Program or Support regular full or part time employee shall be made to the Pastor. Additional paid or unpaid bereavement leave requested by the Pastor shall be made to the Chairperson of the Personnel Committee
RESPONSIBILITY:
Decisions regarding bereavement leave for Program or Support full or part time employees shall be the responsibility of the Pastor and the Personnel Committee in regard to bereavement leave for the Pastor.
