JOB DESCRIPTION - After School Director


TITLE:  Director of Kidz Days - After School Program

 

PURPOSE:  To plan, organize, administer and have total responsibility for the after-school program of the Chapel by the Sea.

 

ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Pastor / Head of Staff.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Director of the Kidz Days – After School Program is responsible for the operation of the program, including the following specific tasks:

  1. Promotion of the program in the community.
  2. Registration of children.
  3. Planning and conducting the program on a daily basis.
  4. Soliciting, training, scheduling and supervising volunteers.
  5. Hiring (in consultation with the pastor and the Discipleship and Fellowship Committee) assistants and other paid workers.
  6. Providing a safe and clean environment for the program.
  7. Maintaining the appropriate licenses, certifications and accreditations with ASCI or other organizations.
  8. Supervising the budget of the program, ensuring that the program is cost effective and financially viable.
  9. Take responsibility for this program’s compliance with all laws and regulations of the county and state.
  10. Being present at all After School events, or secure an appropriately trained worker to be present

 

RELATIONSHIPS:

  1. The Beach Elementary School – A collegial relationship should exist with the community’s school for the mutual benefit of the children and parents.
  2. The ASCI – The Association of Christian Schools International is the organization that certifies our after-school program.
  3. The Session – Annually, usually during the summer months, the director will submit a written report to the Session with information regarding the course of study (as the Session is responsible for approving all curricula in the Church).  This report should go to the Session through the Discipleship and Fellowship Committee.
  4. The Discipleship and Fellowship Committee – As needed, the director will inform the committee of plans to hire a new staff person (as Kidz Days is accountable to this Committee in the hiring of staff for Kidz Days).  As needed, the director may seek out this committee as a resource for support.
  5. The Parish Nurse – The nurse conducts programs with the After School concerning health issues through the week.
  6. The Pastor – The Senior Pastor is the Head of Staff and the director is accountable to this person in all areas of work and program.

 

COMPENSATON:

This is a part time position.  There are no medical or other benefits.

  1. The Director of the After School is $235.5 per week.  Beginning August 1, 2012, an additional $30 is added to this salary, to be reviewed at the end of December, 2012, taking into consideration enrollment and gas prices.
  2. This is a salary that is paid from one week prior to the first day of school for students in Lee County Public Schools, until the day after the last day of students in Lee County Public Schools.  (For 2012-13 that would be August 1 through May 24th). 
  3. The Director is paid consistently the same rate for every week during the school year, no matter how many actual school days are in a given week.  Such days, as well as Spring Break and Winter Break, are taken into consideration with this pay rate.
  4. The normal hours for the Director to work in the school are from 1pm until 6pm.  This allows time for planning and shut down of the program each day.

 

 

EVALUATION

Performance reviews will be conducted annually by the Pastor as Head of Staff and the Personnel Committee.
